A buried herbicide method is being used to assess GreenRice accessions for root depth. A herbicide layer is positioned at 25 cm depth in a soil-filled box, and the speed of plant damage development is correlated with root depth- deep rooted rice accessions die faster. In this photo, a box to screen 250 accessions with four replicates is being set up.
